Auto Insurance

Auto insurance is required by Colorado law. It also allows you to protect your investment in your vehicle and your assets. At Hometown Insurance, we offer auto insurance to Colorado residents.

Liability Auto Insurance

Colorado law requires every vehicle owner to have liability insurance. Bodily injury liability covers medical expenses if someone is injured in an accident that is declared your fault. It covers drivers, passengers of other vehicles, and pedestrians.

The minimum required coverage is $25,000 per person and $50,000 in total.

In addition, you must have at least $15,000 in property damage liability. This coverage will cover the cost of repairing or replacing the other driver's vehicle if you are at fault in an accident.

Collision and Comprehensive Coverage

Collision and comprehensive insurance are often called full coverage. Collision coverage will pay the cost to repair or replace your vehicle if the accident is your fault or no-fault.

Comprehensive coverage covers damage to your vehicle that doesn't occur when driving. This includes vandalism, theft, and something falling on your car.

If you have a lien on your vehicle, your lender will likely require you to carry this type of insurance to protect the asset.

Other Types of Auto Coverage

In addition to liability and comprehensive coverage, other options exist.

Uninsured Motorist

Uninsured motorist coverage will cover your medical expenses if the other driver is at fault and has no auto insurance. Underinsured coverage will make up the difference if the other party has auto insurance, but your injuries exceed their policy limits.

Medical Expenses

Medical expenses coverage will cover your medical expenses in an accident, including your passengers, up to the coverage limit. This is an excellent option if you don't have health insurance. If you do have medical insurance, it includes any medical insurance deductibles or co-pays. Medical expenses coverage applies regardless of who is at fault.
